Dairy Free Coconut Ice Cream

Coconut Ice Cream

If your anything like me and love ice cream then giving up dairy in your diet can be pretty devastating because it means no more ice cream ! That was until I discovered coconut ice cream! However the stuff you from the health food shop is super expensive. So I recently tried making my own version with a friend of mine and we made a real night out of it. Girls in the kitchen with food is always a fun .

 It is so delicious and extremely easy to make.

Once you have made the base you can basically make any flavour you want . I have given three flavour options below for you to pick from.


The ice cream base:

  • 2 cans of full fat coconut cream ( preferably 100% cream with a bpa free can if possible)
  • 3 organic egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup of coconut palm sugar
  • A pinch of Himalayan or Celtic sea salt

The Flavours

Chocolate  / Orange

  • 2 tsps of Doterra orange essential oil. You could also use peppermint oil for choc mint flavour.
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao chips
  • 1/2 cup of raw cacao powder ( or more if you want it to be richer )

Walnut & Ginger

  • 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 or a cup of  crystallised ginger ( chopped finely )
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence or vanilla bean paste

Almond & Pistachio

  • 2 tsp or almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence or vanilla bean paste
  • 1 cup of roasted almonds and pistachios


  • Mix ice cream ingredients in a bowl and mix with the bar mix or blender until combined
  • Pour mixture into ice cream maker and then add other ingredients to mixture and follow instructions for your ice cream maker. Please note that some ice cream makers require you to freeze the bowl 48hr prior to making the ice cream so check the instructions before diving in!
  • Be sure to taste it as you go to see if it tastes good!
  • Serve with Berries and shredded coconut or some raw chocolate sauce.
